Eomuk (어묵), also known as odeng (오뎅), is a popular snack food in Korea and can be found everywhere you go: street vendors, subway stations and snack bars. It only costs 1,000 won and is really popular this time of year now that the cold weather has descended upon us here in South Korea.
So what do you get when you order eomuk? Well, it’s a processed fish cake that is skewered and simmered in a fish broth. You can add a little soy sauce for flavor or dip it in your own bowl of broth. It’s customary to drink your broth when you finish. If you have the opportunity, pick up a stick of this tasty treat.
