I’ve heard about this for a long but never had the chance to try until my final month in Korea. In America, you can get an ice cream cone or ice cream cake at Baskin Robbin. However, in Korea, you also have the option of having ice cream… as a fondue! Your platter is filled with 16 mini scoops of ice cream, a variety of fruits, an assortment of crushed nuts, & a dab of honey. Oh, of course, you get a boiling bowl of chocolate sauce. I personally thought the idea of an ice cream fondue was genius. Not only is it a unique way of eating ice cream, it was also a nice way to sample the most popular flavors at Baskin Robbin in Korea. My favorite flavor had to be the blueberry pop rock ice cream. Green tea was a close second. The fruits served with the ice cream were seasonal and can change depending on what is available. I tried dipping some vanilla ice cream into the honey… interesting combination, I think I’ll just stick to chocolate dipping sauce from now on. This fondue set was priced at 14,900 won ($14.50 USD). I say this is a great and affordable dessert if you eat it with about 3 other people.

Nice! I didn’t know about this…I will have to try it soon! (Although it’s a bit cold here for ice cream at the moment!)
