I love going out to eat especially if it’s Korean cuisine! What makes a Korean restaurant good? Well, besides the quality taste of the main dish…….the panchans are also a big playing role. Panchans are small side dishes that are served with rice and the main meal. There’s an average of 2-10 different side dishes to collectively choose from on the table. They are also meant to be shared with others at the table. Whenever I’m sitting there waiting for my food I’m also anticipating the “surprise” variety of the restaurant’s panchans! Every restaurant has their own unique panchan specialty and I enjoy trying them all…..sometimes even getting seconds. ^_^
The ones that are the most common-
-kimchi (the main staple in any meal and the king of panchans ^_^)
-pickled cucumbers
-steamed egg omelette
-seasoned spinach
-sweet black beans
-bean sprouts
-seasoned dried anchovies (one of my favorites!! Yum!)
-marinated potatoes

My favorite is when they give out Odeng as banchan. I totally love odeng!
I love odeng as well, especially when it’s spicy!
