We normally see 찜딹 (Jjim-dalk) around Seoul but when I went to Gyeongju along with some other foreign friends, we encounter this -> Pork Stew 돼지갈비 찜 (Doae-ji-gal-bi-jjim).
찜 is actually 蒸 in Chinese characters, which means steamed.
We went around the streets of the Center of Gyeongju City where there are a lot of restaurants, boutiques, banks, other establishments, etc. Most restaurants are full. Its hard to find an empty restaurant. But we managed to find one with 1 free table. We ordered Spicy Pork Stew, which I consider as close to Adobo in the Philippines but spicy version.
It consists of pork ribs and rice cakes, with sweet and spicy sauce. It is best eaten with RICE!
Ingredients:
Pork ribs
onions
rice cakes
carrots
Sauce Ingredients
Chili Paste
soy sauce
sugar
sesame oil
black pepper
minced garlic
Procedure:
1. Mix the sauce ingredients
2. Marinade pork ribs with sauce mix
3. Put marinated pork ribs in pan, pour water (half of the pork ribs dipped), put carrots, rice cakes and onions on top
4. Put to boil
Happy Cooking!
