Introduction 
 
During the ‘2012 Korea Grand Sale,’ 21,000 stores nationwide offer discounts for a period of 52 days (January 9, 2012 to February 29, 2012). Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, &Tourism and the Visit Korea Year Committee, the event is geared for international tourists and is aimed at promoting Korea’s shopping tourism industry.

Participating stores in the 2012 Korea Grand Sale event include the ‘BIG 20’ (large chain stores), department stores, duty free shops, select restaurants, shopping malls, and more. In addition to a variety of discounts and promotions throughout the sale period, there are street events and performances that take place. Information about participating stores, discount rates, and mobile coupons are available through the Korea Grand Sale smart phone application.
