Introduction

“New Year Festival, Seol” is a 10-day celebration of the Lunar New Year held by the National Folk Museum of Korea. From January 15th through the 24th, the museum will present 36 programs across 8 different categories: Seasonal Folk Traditions, Chinese Chunjeol (Spring Season) Folk Traditions, Folk Plays, Handcraft Arts, Food and Others, Special Performances, Special Exhibition, and Activities for Children. Also, as 2012 is the Imjinnyeon (Year of the Dragon), many of the programs will carry the dragon theme. Moreover, programs in the Chinese Chunjeol (Spring Season) Folk Traditions category will explore the history of, and commemorate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China.
